City of Seattle[]

Seattle is a charter city with a Mayor-Council form of government. Greg Nickels is the Mayor of Seattle; he was elected in 2001. The Seattle City Council is made up of nine members, all elected annually at large (that is, not by geographic districts).

King County is the largest county in Washington State and includes Seattle (the county seat), as well as the cities of Bellevue, Renton, Burien, Federal Way, Tacoma, Edmonds, Puyallup and Lakewood. The current county Executive is Ron Sims.

United States Senators serve six-year terms. The current U.S. Senators for Washington State are Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray.
