The Fremont Branch is one of many Seattle libraries built by grants from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. It was designated to be built in 1917, but construction was delayed until 1921. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The library was chosen as the fourteenth project completed under the 1998 Libraries for All building program, and renovation was completed on April 16, 2005.
